みなさん、こんにちは！青春旅ブログへようこそ！今回は、大崎上島で毎年催されている夏祭りについて紹介します。
木江十七夜祭は、木江厳島神社の祭礼で、日中には櫂伝馬競漕、夜には大規模な花火大会が行われます。
櫂伝馬競漕とは、200年以上前から続く大崎上島の伝統行事で、瀬戸内海の海賊の偵察船がルーツとされています。「櫂伝馬競漕」では、地区ごとに一隻ずつ、それぞれの船に船頭、太鼓、台振り、そして14人の漕ぎ手などで構成された18人が乗り込み、その速さが競われます。独特な掛け声や太鼓の調子に合わせ、心を一つに櫂を漕ぐ姿は、かつてこの海を支配した海賊たちの姿を彷彿させ、見る人に感動と熱狂を与えます。
夜には、3500発もの花火が打ち上げられる、大規模な花火大会が行われます。この花火を見るスポットは複数あります。屋台や、メインステージが並ぶ木江港近くでは、海上で打ち上げられた花火の音が、入江を囲む山にこだまするため、他の花火大会では味わえない、独特な臨場感が体験できます。また、ホテル清風館のある山からは、ちょうど目線の高さに花火が打ち上がるので、花火をとても近くで体験することができます。
木江十七夜祭には、こういったイベントの他に、地元のカフェや農園の出店や、アーティストによるパフォーマンスなど、様々な催し物が用意されており、一日中祭りを楽しめるようになっています。出店されているカフェの一つに、岩崎農園カフェがあります。岩崎農園カフェのブースでは、毎年、地元の特産品のレモンやゆずを使ったお菓子やドリンクを販売しています。近年は、広島叡智学園の生徒とコラボして作った「ゆずのカナタ」というドリンクも販売しており、大変人気です。
今年の木江十七夜祭は、7/28の土曜日に、木江港で開催されます。櫂伝馬競漕は午前10時から、花火大会は午後8時から行われ、その他にも餅まき大会やステージパフォーマンスなど、たくさんのエンターテイメントが楽しめます。
また、当日は道路が大変混雑し、フェリーの本数も少ないため、島外から車で訪れる方には、島に宿泊されることをお勧めします。
私は去年このお祭りに参加しましたが、大崎上島に住む留学生として、何百年も続いてきた島の伝統的な祭りに参加できるのは、この島の文化や歴史を理解する上でとても貴重な機会だと思いました。みなさんも、この歴史あるお祭りに訪れてはいかがですか？
Hello, everyone. Welcome to our Youth Island Blog! This time, we will be introducing the summer festival held annually on OsakiKamijima.
The Kinoe 17 nights festival is a festival held at Kinoe Itsukushima Shrine, which features rowing called Kaidenma-Kyo during the day and large-scale fireworks display at night.
Kaidenma-Kyo is a traditional event that has been held on Osakikamijima for over 200 years and is said to have its roots in the scouting ships of pirates in the Seto Inland Sea. In the Kaidenma-Kyo, one boat from each district is boarded by 18 people, including a boatman, drummer, a bell ringer, and 14 rowers, and they compete for speed. The sight of the rowers, rowing their oars in unison to the rhythm of distinctive shouts and taiko drums, is reminiscent of the pirates who once ruled the seas, and is a moving and enthusiastic sight for all who see it.
At night, a large-scale fireworks display is held, with 3,500 fireworks being launched into the sky. There are several spots to view the fireworks. Near Kinoe Port, where the food stalls and main stage are lined up, the sound of the fireworks launched over the sea echoes off the mountains surrounding the inlet, creating a unique sense of realism that you can’t experience at other fireworks displays. Also, from the mountain where Hotel Seifukan is located, the fireworks are launched at eye level, so you can experience them very close by.
In addition to these events, the Kinoe 17 nights Festival also features a variety of other activities, such as stalls from local cafes and farms, and performances by artists, allowing you to enjoy the festival all day long. One of the cafes that are set up is the Iwasaki Farm Cafe. Every year, the Iwasaki Farm Cafe booth sells sweets and drinks made with local specialties such as lemons and yuzu. In recent years, they have also been selling a drink called “Yuzu no Kanata,” which was created in collaboration with students from Hiroshima global academy, which has become very popular.
This year’s Kinoe 17 nights Festival will be held on Saturday, July 28th, at Kinoe Port. The Kaidenma rowing will start at 10 a.m. and the fireworks display will begin at 8 p.m. There will also be many other entertainments, such as a rice cake throwing event and stage performances.
Additionally, please note that the roads will be very congested on the day of the festival, and there will be limited ferry services. Therefore, if you are visiting from outside the island by car, we recommend staying overnight on the island.
I attended this festival last year as an international student living on OsakiKamijima, I found it a valuable opportunity to participate in a traditional festival that has continued for hundreds of years.
