新年あけましておめでとうございます。 2026年も、「青春島旅」を読んでいただきありがとうございます。
年が明けても、大崎上島はいつも通りです。 静かな海があって、フェリーが行き来していて、島の時間はゆっくり流れています。 でも、その変わらない景色の中で、私たちは新しい一年を迎えました。

Even after the new years, Osakikamijima still feels the same.
The ocean is calming, the ferries come and go, and it feels like time passes by slowly here.
While the scenery may be unchanging, we welcomed a new year.
昨年の「青春島旅」では、さまざまな記事を書いてきました。 島の歴史に関すること、食に関すること、学びに関すること、何気ない日常を切り取った記事もありました。
取材をしながら感じていたのは、大崎上島の魅力は、特別な出来事よりも、人の言葉や日常の中にあるということです。
通学の風景や、島での暮らし、「当たり前」だと思っていたことが、 話を聞くうちに、少し違って見えてくることが何度もありました。
ブログを書くことは、島を紹介するというより、島と向き合い直す時間だったのかもしれません。
In 2025 we wrote various blogs from island history, food, education, and even those about our daily lives here on the island.
Something we noticed from interviewing islanders is that the island’s charm does not come from special events, but from the words and actions of the islanders. It is within their daily life.
Students on their way to school, or islanders simply going by their day may seem ordinary, but as we got to know the island better, we started to see those scenes from a different angle.
It is possible that writing this blog was not just to promote the island but an opportunity for us to deepen our connection with it.
2026年は午年です。
前に進む年、とも言われていますが、
島で過ごしていると、「自分のペースで進むこと」も同じくらい大切だと感じます。
ここで、少しだけ問いかけです。
最近、自分がいる場所をゆっくり見渡したことはありますか？
遠くに行かなくても、 身近な場所の中に、意外と新しい発見がある。 昨年の取材を通して、私たちはそんなことを学びました。
2026 is the year of the horse.
People say 2026 is the year to move forward.
However, we feel that when living on the island, moving forward at your own pace is also as important.
Now, we have a little question for you.
Recently, have you taken a look at the environment around you carefully?
You don’t have to travel far, there are many fascinating, new discoveries in your own environment.
This is something we learned from writing our blogs last year. The most ordinary occurrences could be the most fascinating ones.
走りすぎず、止まりすぎず。 大崎上島の時間と一緒に、2026年も進んでいきます。
